High-poverty schools in the District get no special treatment in local education funding. But that will change next school year. The mayor’s proposed budget for the 2014-15 school year adds more dollars to the city’s per pupil funding formula for students considered to be “at-risk.” Big questions remain, however, over whether these new investments will be used well and reach the DC students most in need.
