Let’s Build a Stronger DC Together
This year, the DC Fiscal Policy Institute stood strong for racial and economic justice in DC. When federal overreach and budget pressures during the fiscal year 2026 DC budgetary cycle threatened to unravel critical supports for low-income and historically marginalized residents, we responded swiftly—with expert analysis, community-rooted advocacy, and bold calls for equitable revenue solutions.
Thanks to rapid response funding and powerful partnerships, we:
- Restored millions in funding for child care subsidies, housing vouchers, and early educator pay.
- Expanded local refundable tax credits to deliver direct cash support to children and families and protected DC revenue from the impact of wasteful federal tax breaks.
- Protected food assistance and health care programs from harmful cuts.
- Mobilized community-rooted partners and national and state allies to defend DC’s autonomy against federal overreach.
- Launched a federal threats webinar series to expose harms to local communities and built national partnerships to amplify DC’s voice.
But the fight isn’t over.
Federal threats continue to loom. Local progress remains fragile. And the need for bold, coordinated policy advocacy has never been greater.
As we close out the year, we’re asking for your support to sustain this momentum. Your donation powers the research, campaigns, and coalitions that protect DC’s most vulnerable residents and push for a more just and inclusive economy.
Together, we can:
- Defend hard-won gains from federal rollbacks.
- Advocate for fair, equitable policies that invest in people—not the wealthy few and big corporations.
- Build a future in which every person, no matter their race or ethnicity, has what they need to live to their fullest.
