The Good News-Bad News on DC’s Economy

The latest economic dues for DC are sending conflicting messages.  On one hand, the city’s downtown real estate market seems to be on an upswing, and incomes are rising in some parts of the city.  On the other hand,  poverty is on the rise, as the recession and sluggish job market continues to affect thousands.   Even the wall street agencies that rate DC’s financial health have noted these growing gaps and are saying that reducing poverty is critical to the city’s long-term financial health.
