DCFPI Welcomes New Senior Policy Associate for Housing, Mychal Cohen!

DCFPI is excited to welcome Mychal Cohen, our new Senior Policy Associate, to the team. Mychal will work with the policy team to advance housing affordability in DC. 

They come to DCFPI from Community Science, having conducted research on organizing and power building in the DMV and beyond. Before that they worked with Black civic engagement non-profits in Houston to better use data to support their organizing. He has also worked as a Research Associate at the Urban Institute working on the preservation of affordable housing in DC through neighborhood data and equitable development, and as an Analyst with the National Housing Trust focused on state housing policy. 

They hold a bachelor’s in government from the University of Virginia and a master’s in public policy from Georgetown University. They currently live near U Street, but has lived in 4 of the 8 wards over their 10 years in the city. They are a habitual hobby-haver and are currently into painting, camping, and making jewelry.
